拢19.6 million funding for Birkenhead Waterfront
拢19.6 million from the Levelling Up Fund was allocated to Wirral Council to transform the waterfront at Woodside.
Plans for the funding will:
- improve transport infrastructure
- bring new visitors to the Wirral
Woodside ferry terminal improvements
Plans for the funding will enhance Woodside鈥檚 waterfront as an attraction for visitors and residents.
This will be achieved by:
- upgrading the U-boat Story attraction
- transforming outdoor public spaces
- replacing the ferry landing stage
Woodside Gyratory to become a new public space
To create a new public space:
- the bus interchange outside the ferry terminal will be relocated
- the Woodside Gyratory will be removed
This will create better links between Hamilton Square and the waterfront for:
- people with mobility challenges
- pedestrians
- cyclists
