Get a refund or a rebate on your business rates

You can apply for a full refund or partial repayment (sometimes called a 鈥榬ebate鈥�) of your business rates.

If you think you鈥檙e paying too much, you can challenge the rateable value of your property. How you challenge the rateable value depends if your property is in England or your property is in Wales.

You can do this if, for example:

  • your business moved but your bank payment wasn鈥檛 cancelled
  • your rates have been reduced but you鈥檝e been charged the wrong amount

You must request a refund or rebate through your council.
