Ways to become a trainer

Get an advanced riding qualification if you do not already have one.

Pass a theory test.

If you鈥檙e not a direct access scheme (DAS) certified instructor, you also need to take a training course accredited by DVSA.
You must complete the training course within 2 years of passing the theory test, or you鈥檒l have to start the process again.
Advanced riding qualifications
The advanced riding qualifications that are accepted are:
- (gold or silver grade)
- DVSA special test (gold or silver grade)
- (gold or silver grade)
- or (if taken after 1 January 2017)
