Your council makes decisions about hedgerow notices.

You can appeal against a decision if they鈥檝e sent you either:

• a retention notice, saying you cannot remove a hedgerow
• a replacement notice, telling you to replace a hedgerow you鈥檝e already removed

There鈥檚 no fee for appealing.

Deadline for appealing

You must appeal within 28 days of the date on the council鈥檚 notice.

When you can expect a decision

Once your appeal is validated, you鈥檒l normally get a decision within 31 weeks.

Fill in a hedgerow appeal form.

You also need:

• a copy of your original application
• the reason for your appeal
• a copy of the local planning authority鈥檚 decision notice
• any other documents that directly support your appeal

Email or post these documents with your completed appeal form to the council who made the decision and the Planning Inspectorate.
