Anxiety and driving

You must tell DVLA if you鈥檙e diagnosed with anxiety and it affects your ability to drive safely.

If your driving is not affected by anxiety, you do not need to tell DVLA. Ask your doctor if you鈥檙e unsure.

You can be fined up to 拢1,000 if you do not tell DVLA about anxiety that affects your ability to drive safely. You may be prosecuted if you鈥檙e involved in an accident as a result.

Car or motorcycle licence

Fill in form M1 and send it to DVLA if you need to tell them about your condition. The address is on the form.

Bus, coach or lorry licence

Fill in form M1V and send it to DVLA if you need to tell them about your condition. The address is on the form.
