Summary:

At approximately 300 ft agl, during the final approach to land with carburettor heat ON, the aircraft鈥檚 engine began to lose power and failed to respond to control inputs. The pilot carried out a forced landing during which the aircraft鈥檚 left landing gear was damaged. The pilot attributed the loss of engine power to carburettor icing as a result of a malfunction of the carburettor heat system.
